Fortnite Update Today: What’s New in the October 3 Hotfix?

Epic Games has just rolled out a new hotfix update for Fortnite Battle Royale, adding some new content to the game. However, the developer did not release any official patch notes for this update, so we have compiled them for you.

This article will tell you everything you need about the latest Fortnite update, including a new weapon and two new Reality Augments.

This update is not major, so you don’t have to download anything to play it. All the new content was already added to the game files with the previous v26.20 update, released last Tuesday. You just need to launch the game and enjoy the latest additions.

This update comes as we are nearing the end of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4, expected to conclude in November. According to some leaks, season 5 will be the last season of this chapter, and it will only last for a month before chapter 5 begins in December. However, these leaks are not confirmed yet, so we must wait and see if they are true.

In the meantime, let’s look at what’s new in the October 3 Fortnite update.

New Weapon: Tactical DMR

The highlight of this update is the introduction a new weapon: the Tactical DMR. This weapon was teased in the trailer for the current season, and it is finally available in the game.

The Tactical DMR is a semi-automatic rifle with a variable zoom scope, allowing you to switch between 1x and 3x magnification. It is ideal for medium to long-range engagements, as it has high accuracy and damage.

The Tactical DMR comes in five rarities: Common (Gray), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Gold). The higher the rarity, the higher the damage and the lower the reload time.

Here are the stats of the Tactical DMR for each rarity:

You can find the Tactical DMR as floor loot or in chests, supply drops, or vending machines.

New Reality Augments: Ninja Training and Shrub Mud

Besides the new weapon, this update adds two new Reality Augments to the game: Ninja Training and Shrub Mud. These are special items that grant you unique abilities when you equip them.

Reality Augments were introduced this season as part of the Sideways Anomaly feature. They are items that alter your reality and give you an edge over your enemies. You can find them inside Sideways Anomalies, portals that appear randomly on the map and lead you to a twisted dimension full of monsters.

Several types of Reality Augments are available in the game, such as Shadow Tracker, Sideways Rifle, Sideways Minigun, etc. Each has pros and cons; you can only equip one at a time.

The two new Reality Augments that are added in this update are:

  • Ninja Training: This augment increases your movement speed while crouching by 25%. This can help you sneak up on your enemies or escape danger more easily.
  • Shrub Mud: This augment covers you in mud when you enter big bushes, leaf piles, or tall grass. This makes you harder to spot by your enemies or thermal scopes.

These two augments are not as powerful as others and might not be very popular among players. However, they can still be useful in some situations or playstyles.

You can find these augments inside Sideways Anomalies or as floor loot.
