Hey there, fellow ninjas! I’m Izuna, the kunoichi who saved the world from the wrath of the gods. Remember me? Of course, you do! It’s been 16 years since my last adventure, and I’m sure you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to. Well, wonder no more because I’m back with a brand new game for the Switch and PC! That’s right, IZUNA (title tentative) is coming soon, and it’s going to be awesome!

In this blog post, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about IZUNA, including the story, the gameplay, the characters, and the new features. Plus, I’ll show you some exclusive screenshots and a trailer that will blow your mind. So sit back, relax, and get ready for some ninja action!

Story:

IZUNA is a revival of my first game, Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, which was released on DS in 2006. In case you forgot, here’s a quick recap of what happened:

Me and my ninja clan were looking for a place to settle down after our old master, Mugen, decided that ninjas were obsolete and booted us from his castle. Upon arriving at a village that’s suitably out of the way for our “Grandboss”, Gen-An, we decided to stay at an inn when Grandboss wandered off. While trying to find Grandboss, I managed to offend the gods of the village, and everyone in the area started behaving strangely. Now, I had to descend into the various shrines for the gods in order to set things right.

Along the way, I met some interesting characters, such as Shuuchi, the god of Earth; Fuuka, the goddess of Wind; Kagen, the god of Fire; Suiren, the goddess of Water; Utsuho, the god of Air; and Takushiki, the god of Consciousness. I also made some friends (and enemies) among the villagers and other ninjas.

After a lot of fighting and exploring, I finally managed to appease all the gods and restore peace to the village. But that was not the end of my story. There was still a sequel to come.

Gameplay:

IZUNA is a Japanese-style dungeon RPG or roguelike for short. That means that every time you enter a dungeon, it’s randomly generated with different enemies, items, traps, and layouts. You never know what you’ll find next!

The dungeons are divided into floors, and each floor has a staircase that leads to the next one. Your goal is to reach the bottom floor and defeat the boss. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong! The dungeons are full of dangers and challenges that will test your skills and luck.

You can use various weapons and items to fight your way through the dungeons. Weapons have different attributes and effects that can help or hinder you depending on the situation. Items can heal you, boost your stats, or cause various effects on you or your enemies. You can also use talismans to cast spells that can damage or debuff your foes.

But be careful! Weapons and items can break or run out of use if you use them too much. And if you die in a dungeon, you lose all your equipment and money! That’s why you need to be smart and strategic about how you use your resources.

You can also customize your character with different skills and perks that can enhance your abilities or give you an edge in combat. Skills are special moves that consume SP (skill points) when used. Perks are passive effects that are always active. You can learn new skills and perks by levelling up or finding scrolls in dungeons.

Multiplayer:

IZUNA is not just a solo game. You can also play with your friends online or locally using wireless communication. You can team up with up to three other players to explore dungeons together and share items and equipment.

You can also compete with other players in various modes, such as survival mode (where you try to last as long as possible in a dungeon), treasure hunt mode (where you try to collect as many items as possible in a dungeon), or battle mode (where you fight against other players using your weapons and items).

New Features:

IZUNA is not just a remake of my first game. It also has some new features that will make it even more fun and exciting.

First of all, it has a new engine that will provide improved graphics and performance. The dungeons will look more detailed and colourful than ever before. The characters will also have more expressions and animations that will show their personalities.

Secondly, it has a new “crime.net” system that will allow players to find and join heists more easily. Heists are special missions that have different objectives and rewards. You can choose from a variety of heists, such as robbing a bank, stealing a jewel, or kidnapping a VIP. You can also create your heists and invite other players to join you.

Thirdly, it has new weapon customization options. You can modify your weapons with different attachments and skins that can change their appearance and performance. You can also name your weapons and give them a personal touch.

Fourthly, it has new skills and perks. You can learn new skills that can unleash powerful attacks or effects on your enemies. You can also choose from new perks that can give you an advantage in certain situations or environments.

Fifthly, it has new enemy types. You will face new enemies that have different abilities and behaviours that will challenge you in different ways. Some enemies will be immune to certain elements or effects, some will have special attacks or defences, and some will have unique patterns or strategies.

Characters:

IZUNA features a cast of colourful and quirky characters that will make you laugh and cry. Here are some of the characters you’ll meet in the game:

Izuna: That’s me! I’m a 16-year-old girl who was born and raised as a kunoichi. I’m stubborn and often don’t listen to others. I travel with the remainder of my recently unemployed clan, Gen-An, Shino, and Matsumoto (whom I call my slave).

Shino: A girl whom I look up to like an older sister. He is more on the short-tempered side than me but is kind at heart, as read in the comic on the official site. I refer to her as Shino-Sis (or Shino-Meehan in Japan). Also has the dubious honour of being the DS’s “first flat-chested character”, according to the US official site.

Gen-An: Formerly the leader of our ninja village, but now just the leader of our group of unemployed ninjas. The others in the group just refer to him as “Grandboss”.

Matsumoto: The last member of the group, I don’t treat him with any respect, mostly because he doesn’t stand up for himself and doesn’t seem to have any real ninja abilities. His skirt-chasing tendencies probably do nothing to raise his esteem in my eyes.

Shuichi: The god of Earth, he follows a warrior’s code and uses a sword as his weapon.

Fuuka: The goddess of Wind, a calm and kind being. Legend says she has quite a temper that she uses to keep people in line.

Kagen: The hot-blooded god of Fire, he is an “act first, ask questions later” sort who can turn his forearms into claws.

Suiren: The goddess of Water who is similar to me in personality and very mature despite her appearance.

Utsuho: The god of Air, very kind and cool in personality.

Takushiki: The god of Consciousness. He hates dishonesty in all its forms yet keeps his secrets from others. He is also the leader of the other five gods.

And many more!
